The role of a Capex Accountant involves day-to-day management and accounting of capital expenditure (Capex) activities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner. This position is critical in ensuring proper tracking, reporting, and control of fixed asset investments and capital projects within the organization.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Processing and monitoring capital expenditure-related invoices, ensuring correct classification, allocation, and posting to the Capex sub-ledger and general ledger.
- Maintaining and reconciling the Capex sub-ledger to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Managing capitalization and disposals of fixed assets in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Analyzing and posting accruals related to ongoing capital projects.
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing Capex-related reports, reconciliations, and analyses.
- Preparing detailed reports on capital projects and fixed asset movements, and providing analysis to business stakeholders and management.
- Assisting with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and reconciliations for Capex-related accounts.
- Engaging with project managers, procurement, and other departments to ensure timely processing and accurate reporting of capital expenditures.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in Capex processes and contributing to process documentation and optimization.
- Being part of building and developing the Finance Center of Excellence (COE) in Kaunas, focusing on capital expenditure accounting processes.
- Complying with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Supporting the transition of Capex accounting tasks from another company to the Finance COE in Kaunas and contributing to process setup and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to fixed asset and/or Capex accounting.
- Knowledge of IFRS or other internationally recognized accounting standards.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar); knowledge of fixed asset modules is a plus.
- Strong understanding of general ledger and sub-ledger accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to engage with various departments and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience in working with financial reporting tools is beneficial.
- Experience working in a shared service center or Finance Center of Excellence (COE) is an advantage.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute to process improvements and team development.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
