About the Role
We are looking for an experienced engineer who would be working with execs and a small
team of engineers to initiate and implement a vision for cost management in Chronosphere.
In This Role You Will
Collaborate with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs.
Build and guide the vision for cloud cost management and prediction for diverse verticals within Chronosphere.
Architect data pipelines, data infrastructure, and reports to continuously monitor, analyze, and communicate Chronosphere’s internal cloud costs.
Evolve machine-learning-based cost estimation infrastructure used to both understand and predict customer costs based on traffic.
Collaborate with and advise other engineering teams on cost optimization efforts.
You Must Have
The ability to single-handedly own projects from inception to delivery, driving efforts to completion both through collaboration and by directly contributing changes in many components across Chronosphere’s stack.
Willingness and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, understand business needs, and create plans for how to achieve them.
Experience working with data pipelines: architecting ELT/ETL pipelines, implementing transformations for business needs, and orchestrating data flow across distributed systems.
Experience with data analysis and data visualization, sufficient to understand diverse customer traffic patterns and to answer broadly-scoped questions for both product and leadership.
Excellent skills in a programming language such as Go, Python, C++, Java, C#, or Rust. Knowing a specific programming language isn’t important; what matters is that you’ve become fluent in one by spending a lot of time on the types of projects where these languages are used.
Excellent skills in SQL or similar data manipulation languages/frameworks (e.g. Pandas DataFrames, Spark DataFrames).
Familiarity with distributed systems.
A flexible, collaborative working style. We’re a small team working in a rapidly evolving space, and we’re looking for people who will help build a positive, supportive environment.

Experience with data warehouses or data lakes, especially in a cloud setting
Experience with data transformation tools (e.g. DBT, SQLMesh)
Experience with modern orchestration frameworks (e.g. Airflow, Temporal)
Experience in data science, statistics, and/or machine learning
