Job description
Lead a distributed team of 8 observability engineers, ensuring dedication, professional growth, and alignment with company goals
Develop and implement an innovative observability strategy that supports the organization's needs and growth objectives
Ensure the effective use of key observability tools such as Splunk, DataDog, and OpenTelemetry to monitor, solve, and improve the performance of our systems
Collaborate closely with the Infrastructure, Application Management, Software Engineering and Product teams to integrate observability practices into the SDLC
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning within the observability team
Provide guidance and leadership in incident management, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventative measures
Prepare and present reports on observability metrics, trends, and insights to senior management and customers
Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and methodologies in observability and DevOps
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
At least 8 years of experience in IT operations, DevOps or software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Deep understanding of observability principles and practices in an enterprise setting
Proficiency with cloud-native observability tools in AWS and Azure environments
Expertise in using Splunk, DataDog or OpenTelemetry for monitoring and analytics
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing hard-working, diverse teams
Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of effectively collaborating with multi-functional teams and partners at all levels
Willingness to travel as needed to work closely with teams in other locations
