About the team

The Technical Business Analyst role is a part of the Data Delivery team, which exists to ensure smooth delivery of Euromonitor syndicated research projects, from the technical set-up in research database systems through data quality checks and publication to Passport, the global market research database. This team is at the heart of all ongoing industry updates and new industry development, relied on by key stakeholders and end users throughout the company to deliver solutions that meet their needs and expectations.

The Data Delivery team works very closely with Research and Technology Departments and in many respects acts as a bridge between the two. Together with the Technology department, the team works constantly to improve the main internal SQL-based application used by Research team for data entry, calculations and validation.

What you will be doing

The Technical Business Analyst collaborates with other teams and key stakeholders at all levels across the company, works on a range of bespoke Euromonitor applications and websites with the aim to improve data structure, exchange, enable data uploads and extracts. Technical Business Analysts are expected to have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to understand, gather and analyse business requirements, data requirements and calculation needs, and translate these into project specifications, documentation, and supporting artefacts.

How you'll be doing it

  • Making sure that research and industry teams have, at every stage of the industry research project, the tools that they need and that they know how to use them
  • Think through all the ways in which the data can go wrong and ensure that we create the necessary tools to check for those issues, and ensure that these checks are thoroughly documented and explained to end users
  • Ensure that all data and other project tools are thoroughly tested before release to internal users, and before publication to clients
  • Engage with end users to ensure we provide them with tools that are adequate to project needs and allow them to make all necessary data checks to deliver a robust product to clients
  • Create some internal tools in Excel/other relevant application using Excel/Python/SQL/ other relevant applications, or work with developers to get them created
  • Co-ordinate publications and reloads, ensuring that necessary checks have been completed

What you’ll need

  • Practical experience working as a business analyst in software development or similar role in a technology environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret complex business needs and translate these into requirements
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage confidently with stakeholders and end users and clearly communicate vision, goals and requirements to colleagues and clients when necessary
  • High level of numeracy and computer literacy – including strong Excel skills and database knowledge
  • Oral and written fluency in English
  • Good SQL knowledge
  • Experience writing Product Backlog Items/User Stories, Acceptance Criteria and create artefacts incl. Flow charts, Technical specifications an advantage
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Python or R helpful

Salary range is €27,000.00 - €32,000.00 per year.
